DEVElementals Development continues

After 14 weeks in the desert there was, not a moment, but an afternoon of extreme clarity.
A week prior to this I had been sitting in Alice Springs township, furiously writing the three part manifesto that would become The Elementals.

Everything in my life, to this point, aligned. The first stage of this series relies on micro landscapes which are photographed within full sized landscapes. The design of the set for these micro scene has gone through a fair bit of refinement and testing. Failure ensued, while the drive to reclaim a time long past propels me forward.

Micro scene with custom illuminated dam

Armed with a developmental grant from Regional Arts Australia, i’ve been working week in and week out on the developing new techniques and ideas, while refining back the original ELEMENTALS series guide.
Through deep introspection, I’ve discovered a lot about myself along the way and respected and valued the time out on Adnyamathanha Country in the Flinders. There’s been so many interruptions and upheavals however the time has been invaluable in formulating what’s to come.
I’ll be presenting my findings in early January in Adelaide, as well as showing a selection of works from this DEVelemental series.

This artist development would not have been possible without the Regional Art Fund and Country Arts SA.
